Mia Hall Miller

With more than 30 years of choral education experience, Mia’s dedication and enthusiasm for working with young people is widely recognized. In addition to PYC, Mia has conducted the Oregon Music Educators Association All-State Elementary Choir, Middle School Girls Honor Choir, Colorado All State Middle School Women’s Choir, and additional festivals and choirs. Spring 2022 she will be working in multiple festivals in Oregon as well as conducting an International Youth Choir Festival In Tokyo, Japan.

Mia holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music from the University of Oregon. She studied further in Stuttgart, Germany while singing with outstanding choral directors Helmuth Rilling and Frieder Bernius. She has continued conducting studies in workshops with her mentor and teacher Rodney Eichenberger. 

In 2015 Mia received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Oregon School of Music and Dance. In 2016 she was awarded the Oregon Symphony Schnitzer Wonder Award, honoring those who work to build community through the next generation of artists and student musicians. In 2017 Mia was presented the Yolanda D. King Award for work that embodies the messages of the King family and Rosa Parks by Portland’s Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church during their annual MLK commemoration. 

Mia is a member of ACDA and Chorus America.
